Why doesn't mini facelift work?

Superficial muscle tissues called SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) are compressed. In the Imbrication facelift procedure, your surgeon folds your muscles and removes excess muscles.

Mini facelift tecnique
Before the operation, the surgeon cleans the patient's face and marks the areas on the face where the procedure and incisions will be made. The surgeon will then administer local anaesthesia and sedation. Depending on the patient's condition, general anaesthesia may also be applied, although very rarely.
The surgery begins with a small 'S'-shaped incision around the patient's ears. The incision goes around the earlobe just past the fold and extends to the hairline. The incision is typically shorter. It does not extend to the back scalp as in a full facelift. With these incisions, the surgeon accesses the tissues under the skin.
The surgeon dissects the superficial dermal tissue from the underlying muscular layers. Patient subsequently retracts the skin to the required extent and tightens it by excising superfluous tissue. Dissection and rotation of the soft tissues may occur. Sutures are employed to secure the tissue in position. Upon completion of the procedure, the incisions are sutured. These sutures, which remain under the skin, are self-dissolving sutures that are placed in such a way that they remain hidden in the skin and therefore do not need to be removed.
